Learn more about the Dachshund.
Name: Frieda Vetting Status: spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm positive (but treated) and maintained on preventatives, recent dental & senior bloodwork
Cats & small humans are to be ignored, unless the small humans are handing out food (of course). Canine minions are cool and snuggling her foster furbrother is fun. However, very large dogs or hyper-happy alpha types who want to be all up in her face are probably not Frieda's cup of tea. After all, she is the Queen B & all are expected to serve HRH. Frieda is housetrained and will quite clearly ask to go out. She will also "go" on pee pads religiously, so a working family is cool with her. Showing Frieda a leash or her harness is cause for *all* kinds of happy twirling and dancing, even if holding still to put it on is a skill that she may/may not win awards for. Frieda did test heartworm positive when she came to rescue, but has been handling the treatment quite well & is more than ready to go home. Her canine dentist (ok, vet) also diagnosed Frieda with Addisons disease, so she will need to be on inexpensive low-dose prednisone for the rest of her life. This is 110% okay with Frieda because these pills taste like cheese & sometimes peanut butter or hotdog. In fact, if it were up to her, she be getting constant doses of her favorite flavors of "medication". If you think Frieda is the dog for you, please fill out an adoption application today! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Frieda is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link: http://www.k9rescuees.org/forms/form_humanverify?formid=4070, veterinary and personal reference checks and a home visit are required prior to being approved to adopt.
