Pedro is a sweet and spunky little Chihuahua who is looking to settle into a furever home. Pedro is a little reserved at first, but after a while his spunky, sassy side starts to show. You really can't blame him with everything being new by taking stuff slowly. He lost his human to illness recently and he was separated from his doggie sister due to her need for intensive medical care in another foster placement.

Couch potato humans and TV binge watchers are his favorites, particularly if there is a spot for him on that lap or tagging along on errands. Most humans are awesome to him, though very small humans who get in his face aren't appreciated. Veterinarians who do things with needles and place thermometers in locations he refuses to discuss are also on the bottom of his preference list.

Cats are to be ignored and the test kitty he met was less interesting to Pedro than a whoosh of air coming from the room's air vent.  Dogs are cool and playing with his foster fur-siblings is fun. However, very large dogs or hyper-happy types who want to be all up in his face are probably not his cup of tea.

Pedro is housetrained and will quite clearly ask to go out, but hasn’t yet realized he can make the dog door work all by himself. Showing him a leash or his harness is cause for *all* kinds of happy twirling and dancing, even if holding still to put them on is a skill he needs some work on. Walkies and car rides are a blast, but don't expect to skip sharing your drive-thru french fries if Pedro is your co-pilot.

If you think Pedro is the dog for you, please fill out an adoption application today!

NOTE (for those over 65) -- As part of the application process, K9-ES asks that you provide a back up caretaker. Dogs are family & we want a human family member to step-up to take your new best friend in the event you are no longer able to care for him/her.... not for the dog to find themselves homeless once again in their declining years.

We all know that life happens, so those under the age of 65 are also highly encouraged to think about a back-up plan for your animals BEFORE you potentially find yourself unable to care for them.

On the application, there is a "comments" section where you can list the backups name, email address and phone number. Please fill that in as completely & specifically as possible.

Pedro is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link: http://www.k9rescuees.org/forms/form_humanverify?formid=4070, veterinary and personal reference checks and a home visit are required prior to being approved to adopt. Non-local adopters are welcome! If you have questions, please e-mail the following: K9RescueES@gmail.com

Please note, all of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!
